Keeing you updated with the latest Bromley CAMRA Branch news.
At the branch AGM, on 30th March, awards were made to two members of the branch for their outstanding contributions to this branch and to CAMRA generally.
Bob Keaveney has been active in the branch since it reformed in 2011. For all of that time he has co-ordinated the beer scores and overseen the Pub of the Year and Club of the Year process, he also organised our entries in the Good Beer Guide for a number of the years.
In 2016 the previous branch chairman moved out of the area and had to stand down part way through the year, and Bob volunteered to take up the post of chairman just for six months, until the next AGM. With the AGM having moved twice, it is now almost exactly three years that Bob has filled this demanding role and dealt with all of the issues that have come up with professionalism and in a manner that has deservedly earned him the respect of many in CAMRA, in the branch and further afield.
With Bob now stepping down his contribution as a Champion Campaigner in CAMRA is being recognised and he was given a certificate by Geoff Strawbridge, the Regional Director, to mark this.
Bob Gray has been active in CAMRA for decades and has done just about anything you can think of! In Bromley CAMRA he has been an Area Rep and the Beer Bar Manager at the festival and he continues as a Brewery Liaison Officer. Previously he held various roles including the South East London branch's festival Beer Bar Manager for many years.
Many people however will think of Bob not so much as someone who has contributed by doing particular jobs but as someone who has helped them practically and with encouragement; as someone who is always willing to share his knowledge and experience but who is also always willing, keen even, to learn; as someone who knows about and cares about the past but who does not live in the past but looks forward to the future.
The branch takes great pleasure in marking Bob's contributions by making him our Honorary Life President.
