Bromley CAMRA

Find out what information we have during the crisis

It’s early July.   The Covid crisis is in a new phase now, with pubs, clubs and bars feel being free to reopen, albeit with numerous restrictions in place.    In Bromley CAMRA  we reckon that around half of our pubs have reopened, with many more to follow before the month end.

So it’s time to eliminate the list of pubs that provided services during the lockdown that used to exist on this page.   This is being done with a big acknowledgement and grateful thanks for the wonderful service that they provided during that horrible period.   And as a rather pessimistic webmaster, I’m just “hiding” the list – not deleting it – just in case lockdown returns.     So we now have a new situation where some pubs have reopened, others are about to, whilst we are not sure about many others, although happily I have yet to hear of any pub in our area that will close for good.

This new situation will be dealt with using WhatPub and will include all the information that previously existed on this page, and a lot more.   Since the crisis erupted, CAMRA have enhanced WhatPub to  include a new – and hopefully short-lived – piece of information which is intended to show temporary information which will be relevant only during this period whilst we transition to normal operation.   See the picture below to know where to find it.

More than half of our pubs have now been updated, we hope to complete the others by the 7th, although this a huge task given that we have well over 100 pubs on our WhatPub database.   Our membership can help us.  If you live near a pub, please check whether the information on WhatPub is correct – if it isn’t, please let us know by writing to pubinfo@bromley.camra.org.uk or by using the WhatPub feedback form on the page.

We know that many people will still be uncomfortable about returning to pubs at this early stage.   Many breweries are continuing to offer delivery and/or takeaway services, including Westerham who will deliver to anywhere in our borough.   CAMRA has also negotiated discounts nationally with an increasing number of regional and national breweries who can deliver beer to your doorstep.   For instance, Fuller’s are offering CAMRA members a 15% discount on purchases from their online shop until the end of July.   See this link to the CAMRA national website for full details.
