This comfortable and spacious pub/restaurant is a few minutes walk away from The Swan.
For those joining the social here, West Wickham station is about 15 minutes walk away. To reach this pub from central Bromley, use the high-frequency 119 bus and alight at High Street/Manor Road which is near the pub. From Beckenham use the 194, alighting at the same stop.

This is our first out-of-area social since lockdown eased up, and takes us to the picturesque Thanet town of Broadstairs, which now boasts a staggering SEVEN micropubs. The plan is to meet at Bromley South station in order to catch the 9.57 train which is due to reach Broadstairs at 11.29. Please arrive at around 9.30 if you interested in benefitting from a groupsave ticket.From the station it’s about a 20 minute walk to the first pub – The Yard of Ale – which opens at noon. This pub has won a host of awards, and reached the last four of CAMRA’s 2015 pub of the year competition. This social provides an opportunity to visit the attractive village of Farnborough, together with its two excellent pubs.We begin at The Change of Horses, which reopened in December 2019 following a lengthy closure for extensive refurbishment. Amongst other changes, the big screens for TV Sport are now gone as the pub moves upmarket. Cask ales from the three handpumps will normally include a beer from Tonbridge brewery. The pub is conveniently served by the high frequency 358 bus route (Crystal Palace to Orpington via Beckenham and Bromley). Alight at Farnborough High St/Church Rd. The pub is nearby.

This festival, which was an annual event prior to lockdown, now makes a most welcome return. The first night (Thursday) of the festival will be a preview night with access limited to OLC and CAMRA members only. Doors open at 18.00. Don’t forget your CAMRA membership card as it is required for entry.The festival proper then opens at noon on the Friday and Saturday, closing at 11pm on both days. It then concludes with an afternoon session on the Sunday from noon to 16.00. Non club members must buy entrance tickets for each day in advance. They cost £1.00 per person and may be purchased from 1st October either over the bar or online. Entrance tickets are NOT required for CAMRA members for the preview night. This is our first social at the second “Real Ale Way” to open in our borough, which is expected to operate in a similar manner to its well-known and well-liked predecessor in Hayes. At the time of writing this venue hasn’t yet opened its doors, so further details are not yet available. Despite the address in Station Road, West Wickham station is about 15 minutes walk away. Buses will get you much closer. Use routes 119 (Bromley North to Purley) or 194 (Lower Sydenham to Croydon via Beckenham and Penge) and alight at High Street / Wickham Court Road.

This is an Antic pub, with a much-improved range of real ales compared to its previous ownership. Bus users should use routes 75, 176, 227, 356 or 358 and alight at Penge/Pawleyne Arms. This large Wetherspoons pub usually offers the widest selection of real ales in the Bromley CAMRA branch area from its 17 handpumps. The pub is about 10 minutes walk from Kent House BR station. Alternatively, major bus routes including 194, 227 and 358 all pass close to the pub. Alight at the Clevedon Road stop which is 2 minutes walk from the pub. The pub is around 400 metres from The Southey Brewery Tap.

The pub which was Bromley CAMRA Pub of the Year for 2017 isn’t close to any railway station, but can be reached using the 146 or 246 buses from Central Bromley. Alight at Keston/The Fox. Neither of these is a high frequency route, so it’s worth checking the timetable. Bromley CAMRA members who are not on the committee are always welcome to attend committee meetings.
