This is an event designed to tie in with CAMRA’s “summer of pub” initiative, with both pubs enjoying excellent gardens, as well as a good range of real ales.
The Rose and Crown is a superb pub, but annoyingly it is outside our branch area by a few hundred metres or so. If West Kent CAMRA ever want to donate it to us….
Bus access is convenient but infrequent. It involves using the TfL R5/R10 route from Orpington station. It is a circular route with the bus route number changing depending on which way round the circle the bus is taking. At the time of writing, the best bet is to get the 13.18 from Orpington bus station (next to the railway station) alighting at Halsted (the Cock) about 30 minutes later. Experienced walkers may prefer the 1 1/2 mile walk from Knockholt station, mainly across a disused golf course.
For diners, the pub is renowned for its food.
