This is one of our occasional “out of branch area” trips, this time to the historic and picturesque town of Rye, located two miles from the coast in East Sussex. Rye is a very small town, and for anyone of normal fitness, walking between the various pubs that we visit will present no problem.
Rye station is on a branch line which runs along the South coast. So our plan is catch the 10:03 from Orpington to St.Leonards/Warrior Square, changing there to catch the 11.20 connecting train to Rye, arriving in Rye at 11.47.
At the time of writing, the detailed agenda for the day has not been finalised, but a handout guide to Rye pubs will be available on the day. Some of the pubs that we may visit include the following :-
