Keeing you updated with the latest Bromley CAMRA Branch news.
We tried to do this social last year, but had to cancel due to exceptionally hot weather. We have brought the date forward a month in the hope that we still benefit from good weather, but without a record-breaking heatwave this time.
The Darenth Valley contains arguably the most attractive scenery to be found within easy reach of Bromley. The social offers the chance to enjoy a short walk in the valley, as well as visits to 5 country pubs. Total walking distance is about 4-5 kilometres (about 3.5 miles) and should be fine for most able-bodied people. The return walk is mainly uphill though, including the final section back to Eynsford station. If warm and sunny weather is expected, please bring water, sun-cream and appropriate headgear.
Our plan is to meet at Bromley South Station at 11:35 to catch the 11:49 Thameslink train to Eynsford. The same train calls at several stations in our borough – namely Beckenham Hill, Ravensbourne, Shortlands, Bickley and St Mary Cray. The final destination of the train is Sevenoaks. Trains run at 30-minute intervals on this line, so getting back to Bromley isn’t a problem.
Eynsford is just outside the oyster zone, which ends at Swanley.
