Keeing you updated with the latest Bromley CAMRA Branch news.
On 4th July we will be holding another social with Orpington Liberal Club, this time from Crayford to Dartford, visiting a number of pubs from Crayford to Dartford and finishing up at the multi-award winning Dartford Working Men’s Club. Although some use of public transport is involved, Oyster 60+ cards and freedom passes are valid for all of the journeys.
The rough itinerary is as follows:
Meet at Sidcup Station at 11.30 am for the 11.53 train to Crayford. From Central Bromley, Sidcup station can be reached using bus routes 269 or the Superloop SL3. Both of these begin their journeys at Bromley North bus station, and also have stops close to both Bickley and Chislehurst stations.
After the short train journey to Crayford, we have a short walk to the Penny Farthing arriving shortly after the riverside micropub opens at noon.
Then we’ll catch the nearby 96 bus for a short visit to The Ship, which only sells two ales on handpump, but is like going back in time to a pub in the 1970s.
We’ll then be back on the 96 bus to Dartford where all the remaining venues are within easy walking distance of each other. The first of these is the Malt Shovel . In addition to the (usually) four cask ales, meals are available.
We then walk to the Phoenix Micropub in Market Street. This micropub has had a few name changes in its short life, being originally the “Dartford Jug”, and after that the “Long Dog”.
Another short walk takes us on to our finish at the Dartford Working Men’s Club. This club has won many awards since the turn of the century including CAMRA’s National Club of the Year in 2006. Don’t forget your CAMRA card as it is required for entry. The Club is about 5 minutes walk back to Dartford railway station.
