This committee meeting will be held in the upstairs room at the Lord Holmesdale which is situated opposite the main Bromley Tesco in Homesdale Road. This is a pub which is trying to increase its real ale offering, so hopefully we can provide some encouragement in the form of cask ale sales. To reach the pub, there is a 15 minute walk from Bickley station or to avoid that, use bus route 336 (Catford to Locksbottom via Central Bromley), and alight at the nearby Lord Homesdale bus stop. (yes I know that the bus stop spelling doesn’t match the pub name – take it up with TfL, not me! – TW). Bromley CAMRA members who are not on the committee are always welcome to attend committee meetings. Non-committee members planning to attend a meeting may request the Secretary (secretary@bromley.camra.org.uk) to prepare and print a pack of relevant committee papers [.....]
Venue: Dulwich Hamlets Football Club, Champion Hill, Edgar Kail Way, London SE22 8BD The festival runs from the 21st to the 23rd, and is open from noon to 10:30pm each day. Up to 50 cask ales will be available as well as around 25 ciders and perries. Admission is free for CAMRA members. For most members in our branch area, the most convenient way to reach the venue is by using the train to East Dulwich station which is little more than 100 metres from the venue. This station can be reached by using the half-hourly stopping service from Beckenham Junction to London Bridge. The service also stops in our branch area at Birkbeck and Crystal Palace. There is more information about the festival on the SEL CAMRA website.
A chance to visit three of Central Bromley’s traditional pubs, all of which are within easy walking distance of each other, and which are renowned for the range and quality of their cask ales. We start at 7:30pm at the Red Lion. This pub was Bromley CAMRA’s pub of the year in 2012 and is the only pub to have been featured in every edition of the Good Beer Guide since Bromley CAMRA re-formed in 2011. It is located a short walk away from Bromley North Station/bus terminal and the Market Square. We the continue to the Partridge (8.30pm), and finish at the The Star and Garter (9.30pm).
