An annual “Cramble” (CAMRA ramble ) has become something of a branch tradition and offers a chance to combine a healthy walk of about 7 miles with visits to up to six of of our more rural pubs, all of which serve cask ale.    The route mainly follows some of Bromley CAMRA’s “pub walks”.    Click here to see details of all of our pub walks.

Our plan is meet at the Black Horse pub in Biggin Hill at noon    The pub is easy to get to since it has a bus stop outside its front door on the high-frequency 320 route which starts in Catford and passes both Bromley North and Bromley South stations.    Alight at Biggin Hill/Black Horse.    Routes 246, 464 and R2 also serve this stop, but are less frequent.

After this initial refreshment, the walk will begin at 12:40, and will follow the itinerary below :

  • 12:40 Depart from Black Horse and walk to Cudham – 2.3 miles (this is the steepest part of the whole route)
  • 13:40 approx. – arrive Cudham. Pub : The Blacksmiths Arms
  • 14:30 Depart from Blacksmith’s Arms and walk to Green Street Green – 2.8 miles
  • 15:45 approx. – arrive Green St Green. Pubs The Rose & Crown and The Royal Oak (possibly The Queens Head too – but that’s a bit of a detour)
  • 16:30 Depart Green Street Green and walk to Farnborough – 1.5 Miles
  • 17:15 approx. – arrive Farnborough.   Once again, there is a choice of pubs at Farnborough, these being the Change of Horses and the Woodman.

Farnborough is served by bus route 358 which offers an easy way back to Bromley, Beckenham or Orpington.
