How Bromley CAMRA selects the Pub and Club of the year
NB, the timetable and timescale are dictated by the deadlines set for the regional and national awards:
- In December each year branch members are invited to submit nominations and to volunteer to join the judging panel.
- Any member of the branch may volunteer to be a judge.
- There is no maximum number of judges.
- Judges must however visit of all the shortlisted pubs (normally no more than 5 pubs).
- Members may not be judges for more than 2 consecutive years.
- In January a shortlist of eligible pubs and clubs is drawn up from the list of nominations.
- The judging period is approx. 3 weeks in late January/early February.
- Judges score the pubs on the criteria used for the CAMRA national Pub of the Year award.
- The judges’ decision is based on the total number of points awarded by the judges and on the ranking of the pubs by the individual judges.
- The award decisions are announced in early March
